Los Angeles Congresswoman Embarrasses Herself

Residents of central Los Angeles haven't had many reasons to be proud to be represented in Congress by Maxine Waters. Aside from playing the race card so many times it's gotten worn around the edges, her practice of funneling government money to family members has earned her a regular spot on the list of corrupt Congresspeople put out by the Center for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington. Even now, Waters is the subject of a messy House Ethics investigation concerning her lobbying for TARP funds to bail out a bank employing her husband. Given that, you'd think she might avoid weighing in on matters financial. Instead, she's making an idiot of herself by grandstanding about the Standard & Poor's downgrade of U.S. government debt. Waters is demanding that the Securities and Exchange Commission and the House of Representatives to launch an investigation into S&P;'s actions. In a public statement (HT: Zerohedge), she said to the rating agency, "I demand you downgrade yourself immediately. Who is your CEO?" Which just goes to show that, as bad as things get in Sacramento, the best stupidity is still found in DC.

See this is the kind of representation you get when you vote.

Maxine Waters: the best argument yet for limited government.
